 history
Severstal-metiz was founded on 1 July 2004 as the managing company for 3 business units, namely ChSPZ (Cherepovets Steel Drawing Plant), OSPAZ (Orel Steel Drawing Plant) and VolgoMetiz (Volgograd Steel Wire and Rope Plant).
As the result of shareholder meetings a single executive body was created.
In July 2005 the shareholders of ChSPZ and OSPAZ agreed the reorganization of Severstal-metiz.
The Severstal-metiz reorganisation, through the takeover of Cherepovets Steel Drawing Plant and Orel Steel Drawing Plant, together with the procurement of the VolgoMetiz property assets, was formally completed on 1 January 2006.
On 26 May 2006 at the annual shareholder meeting of Severstal-metiz, the resolution to incorporate into an open-type joint stock company was passed. These changes came into effect on 1 July 2006.
During 2006, Severstal-metiz took its first steps to expand its export business, with specific acquisitions in the Ukrainian and the UK markets. Severstal-metiz purchased the shares of the Ukrainian business Dneprometiz (17 February 2006) and the British company Carrington Wire (10 April 2006).
With effect from July, 30, 2008 the Italian company Redaelli Tecna, producer of high-tech speciality wire ropes and world leaders in the tensostructure solutions market, became part of the Severstal-metiz group.
