 history
"Severstal-Metiz" was founded in 2004, and has 3 business units, namely:
- JSC "ChSPZ" (city of Cherepovets)
- JSC "OSPAZ" (city of Orel)
- JSC "VolgoMetiz" (city of Volgograd)
The JSC "Cherepovets Steel Rolling Plant", JSC "Orel Steel Rolling Plant" and JSC "VolgoMetiz" members formed the single executive body, which in July 2005 with the shareholders of JSC "ChSPZ" and JSC "OSPAZ", agreed the reorganization and affiliation with JSC "Severstal-Metiz". The JSC "Severstal-Metiz" reorganization and takeover of JSC "Cherepovets Steel Rolling Plant", JSC "Orel Steel Rolling Plant", together with the procurement of the JSC "VolgoMetiz" property assets, was formally completed on 1 January, 2006. On the 26 May, 2006 the annual general meeting of JSC "Severstal-Metiz" shareholders passed the resolution to incorporate into an open-type joint stock company. These changes came into effect on 1 July, 2006.
During 2006, Severstal-metiz took its first steps to expand the export business, with specific acquisitions in the Ukraine and UK market. Severstal-metiz purchased shares of the Ukrainian business unit "Dneprometiz" (17 February 2006) and British company Carrington Wire Limited (10 April 2006).
