 about the company
"Severstal-metiz" is an international company manufacturing steel wire and wire products, with production facilities in Russia, Ukraine and Great Britain.
Year 2005 key statistics: Severstal-metiz holds a leading position in the industry (more than 30% market share in the Russian market) and is also the largest exporter of metalware from Russia to Europe and the CIS (approximately 53% of total exports). Severstal-metiz results for the year 2005 reflect that the business produced 826, 4 thousand tons of metalware, with 198,5 thousand tons exported. Sales revenue for this period was 619 million dollars, with investments of more than 20 million dollars.
Severstal-metiz started in August 2003 on the basis of the ChSPZ-OSPAZ alliance, followed in June 2004 with the formation of the steel wire and rope plant in Volgograd "VolgoMetiz”. From July 2004, the shareholders took the decision to transfer the ChSPZ-OSPAZ alliance to the managing company "Severstal-metiz" and in August 2004, Volgometiz followed similar integration. A year later in July 2005, further reorganization was made in terms of forming the Joint-Stock Company "Severstal-metiz" and finally in January 2006 all three steel rolling – "ChSPZ", "OSPAZ", "VolgoMetiz" – were consolidated into the one company.
This reorganization has been undertaken to maximise synergies and consolidate resources to focus on optimizing market potential and to effectively achieve a leading and primary position in the European and CIS markets, by developing strategic partnerships and providing sustainable high levels of service and quality Further developments continued for Severstal-metiz in February 2006 with the Severstal-metiz" forming partnership with the Ukrainian financial group "TAS" and the Open Society "Dneprometiz". The share purchase of the Open Society "Dneprometiz" – the largest manufacturer of hardware of Ukraine – became the next step in realization of the development strategy of "Severstal-metiz", with export market focus from this plant. "Severstal-metiz" acquired in April 2006, as a result of the agreement between the company "Severstal-metiz" and Acertec Holdings Limited (Great Britain), 100% shares of the company Carrington Wire Limited (CWL).
The Severstal-metiz group of companies consists of 4 independent business units:
- "TrefilArbedRus" (joint venture with ТrefilАrbed (the company of group Arselor, Luxembourg)) for production of metallic cord;
- "ChSPZ-МКR" (joint venture with "МКR", Czechia) for production of spring blocks;
