Ukrainian wire plant plans to expand production
Ukrainian wire and wire products maker Dneprometiz, part of Russia’s Severstal-Metiz group, aims to increase production to 200,000 tonnes/year by 2010, according to its general director Dmitry Sergeyev. The increase will be achieved by reconstructing part of the production facilities, in particular, the pickling section and steel-making shop No 2, and by developing new products.
Investment in Dneprometiz’s development over the next three years will total around 45m hryvnia ($10m), Steel Business Briefing learns from the company.
Earlier this year, Dneprometiz completed modernisation of its No 6 hot-dip galvanising unit. The unit produces galvanised annealed wire down to 1.6mm diameter. The revamp made it possible to increase the maximum diameter from 3.9mm to 4.5mm and to raise productivity from 1,000 t/month to 1,100 t/m.
