SEVERSTAL METIZ Electrodes Audited to Ukrainian Quality Standards

The Orel SEVERSTAL METIZ plant has passed a certification audit into electrode production. The audit was conducted by specialists from the SEPROZ certification centre of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The audit comprised all stages of production, from meeting technology standards to testing finished products. The products were tested in the centre's independent laboratory at the Kiev-based Paton Electric Welding Institute. Simultaneously, specialists audited the electrode quality management system and declared it as meeting Ukraine's DSTU ISO 9001 standards. As a result, the Orel plant has obtained a five-year certificate (valid until 2012) rather than a two-year certificate as is typically the case.
