Volgograd's Severstal-metiz Earns On Renting Idle Premises
Since the introduction of the Volgograd Industrial Center project, Volgograd's Severstal-metiz has earned 20 million roubles ($800,000/E567,000) in profit. This became possible due to the attraction of ten various enterprises to the project, for example, Cargo Berth, Volga Pipe Trade, Yuzhtehneft, Volgogradmobile, Volgogradservice, the Volgograd branch Steellace, a subsidiary of Severstal-metiz and others, which moved their production to the premises of the Volgograd plant Severstal-metiz on terms of lease or sale/purchase contract. It is expected that by year's end two more companies will set up shop at the industrial center.
The idea to attract partners to free areas of the plant was formulated in the project Industrial Center Volgograd in 2006. In the course of gradual optimization of production premises and the power infrastructure of the plant, territories of several shops and sections with buildings were released.
