"Severstal-metiz" will present new types of ropes for the Mining Industry at the international exhibition Mining World Russia
Ropes with compacted strands and organic filled ropes will be presented by "Severstal-metiz" at the exhibition Mining World Russia exhibiition opening on the 16th of April in Moscow. These types of products will be introduced by specialists from the Service Rope Centre*.
The group of companies "Severstal-metiz" started the production of steel ropes with compacted strands in 2006. These types of ropes are used in similar applications to standard steel ropes; in mining hoists, open-mine excavators, etc. However, compared to standard steel ropes, with compacted strands have longer operational life (on average 1.5 – 1.8 times), they differ by the ruggedness (on 10-20%), higher resistance to cross crushing, and there is greater wear-resistance in the wires, pulleys and rollers. At present the Volgograd plant of Severstal-metiz is the only producer in Russia of ropes with compacted strands.
Production of organic filled ropes started at the end of 2007. They differ from the usual wire ropes by the high flexibility, advanced resistance to dynamic loads, and the availability of an additional grease source inside the rope.

The exhibition Mining World Russia exhiibition is a good opportunity to meet consumers, demonstrate our full range of ropes including the new types - unique ropes of special constructions with additional properties (compacting of strands and ropes, prestressing, plastic and organic filling) and introduce our available technical service as well", - Vladimir Petrovich, the head of high-carbon division of the Severstal-metiz group of companies commented at the exhibition.

*The Service Rope Centre commenced its work in Severstal-metiz on the 1st of July, 2007. Its opening was one of the steps of high-carbon development in the company. The Center became a connecting link between a producer and consumers of ropes. The key targets of the Service Rope Centre include perfection of technologies, improvement of product quality and client satisfaction.
International exhibition Mining World Russia – "Mining equipment for ore and minerals extraction" is a key industry exhibition in Russia, attended by professionals of the mining industry and introducing the whole range of products and services of the mining sector. More than 170 participants from 22 countries of the world took part in this exhibition.
