Dneprometiz, Ukrainian business of the Severstal-metiz Group of Companies, received a certificate of conformity to international standard EN 14889-1:2006

The quality of steel wire fibre HENDIX, that has been produced by Dneprometiz since 2008, is confirmed by certificate of conformity to international standard EN 14889-1:2006 which is binding for the use of fibre by European customers.

Reference: In comparison with traditional reinforcement with hot-rolled rod, hooked-end steel wire fibre is perfectly anchored in the concrete, virtually eliminates lumps when it is mixed into it and, prevents the appearance of cracks and concrete shrinkage. That is why it is widely used in con-struction of industrial floors and asphalt covering with average load.

The process of certification started at the beginning of 2009. Upon recommendations of repre-sentatives of the Centre for the Certification Construction Products (the city of Vilnius, the Repub-lic of Lithuania) technical documentation and systems of production control were improved, tests of samples were passed in the Lithuanian laboratory.

As Dmitry Sergeev, CEO of Dneprometiz, remarked, due to the receipt of the certificate the busi-ness can extend the geography of delivery of fibre into the EU countries (before now the main volume was despatched to Russian customers).

Moreover, in the near future the standard for steel-fibre-concrete construction, which demands the certificate of conformity to Euro standards, comes into effect in Ukraine. The standard will al-low the builders to design and produce those constructions without prestressing that were not in use in Ukraine previously. So, the Ukrainian customer base will be enlarged.
