New product from Severstal-metiz – multistrand non-rotating steel wire rope – passed successful testing at the Yurmach plant*
The Severstal-metiz Group of Companies has developed a new wire rope taking into account special demands of the application – its design is uniquely suited for use in hoisting equipment. Twenty four steel strands, twisted in opposite directions, provide the rope with high durability, perfect endurance and virtually eliminate the rotation of rope on its axis during use.
During the tests the rope demonstrated its superior performance. This innovative product will be included in the rope set on all mobile cranes produced by Yurmach. In the long term the engineers are also planning to equip machines having high hoisting capacity with non rotating multistrand ropes.
“By actively developing new types of products, increasing quality and service levels we lay the foundation for long term partnership with our clients and enlarge our customer base. Development of new wire ropes opens up for us opportunities for cooperation not only with engineers but also the oil industry, because the exclusive design of the product allows it to be used in mobile drilling rigs”, remarks the Head of High Carbon Division of the Company, Managing Director of the Volgograd plant Vladimir Petrovich.
*** *The Yurga Machine Engineering plant (Yurmach) is situated in Yurga, Kemerov region (Russia). It was founded in 1943 on the base of evacuated plants – the Novokramatorskiy engineering plant, Leningrad metal plant, the Bolshevik and Arsenal plants (the city of Volgograd) – for manufacturing military products. Nowadays it is a unique complex incorporating the complete engineering cycle beginning with conversion and ending with the production equipment for coal-mining, metallurgical, power and construction sectors, for railway and agricultural industries.
