The Severstal-metiz: Welding Consumables Company presented its unique products at the Xth international specialised exhibition “Neva-2009”* (Saint-Petersburg, Russia)
There is a wide range of standard products for shipbuilding in the Severstal-metiz: Welding Consumables product portfolio (welding electrodes, welding and hard facing flux-cored wire, solid wire) as well as some other unique innovations. Among them are electrodes with improved welding-technological characteristics (UONI 13/55, UONI 13/45, UONI 13/55S), chemical coated welding wire SG2, and also rutile flux-cored welding wire 48FCW-7F. Guests at the exhibition “Neva-2009” could not only learn about all these products but were convinced of their high quality – a welding demonstration took place on the stand.
Chemical coated welding wire, which is a unique development of the Company, generated a high level of interest. One of the crucial problems of welding – getting copper into the weld – is solved by using a new coating of wire and a special process of application. Due to this, intercrystalline corrosion does not develop and reliability and durability of welding structures are increased. Moreover, the clogging of guide hoses with the remains of technological lubrication diminishes, the copper coating doesn’t crumble away, and the arc stability is ensured when this wire is in use.
The wire 48FCW-7F of 1,2 mm in diameter, intended for mechanised welding in carbon dioxide and mixture Ar+CO2, was also of great interest at the exhibition. Welders of Russian and foreign shipbuilding dockyards took experimental samples of this wire for testing. The results will be known in September.
